I’ve had my cat for about 8 years now after finding him as a young stray. He’s always been a loud one but recently, I think around the time I got a new kitten, he’s gotten far louder and more constant with the noise.

Even when I first got him and took him to the vet they said he may actually have been abandoned because of his loudness given how open he was to humans rather than being (semi) feral. I’ve long since learnt to live with the noise but now… well, let’s say we have our disagreements.

His noise is rarely about anything ime, sometimes it’s because he wants me to be sitting still so he can get cosy but otherwise he just likes the sound of his own voice I think (even if no one else does).

So, does anyone have any ideas if a new kitten might have given him reason to get worse? Or solutions to quiet him down? They get along just fine, beyond the odd play fight, so I don’t think it’s distress or anything. Maybe just another presence in the house he feels the need to meow at?
