Hi all! New to the sub. Tried searching for similar posts but didn’t find any; please let me know if this isn’t allowed! Mainly posting to see if anyone else has noticed this in a cat before, or if it’s worrisome.
I have two cats, and we’re undoubtedly in the middle of springtime hairball season. It sucks cleaning-wise, but more so knowing they just aren’t going to feel well some days until they get rid of the hairball of the moment.
One of the two kitties was just sitting next to me on the couch, grooming himself a bit on and off. I heard a wet noise that at first I thought was just more licking, but when I looked, he’d actually spit up a little hairball right in front of his face. No hunching-hacking, nor his usual pre-hairball yowl, nor second-wind throwup afterwards. Kinda just like how a human baby has spit up. A small blob of hair, and I’m guessing saliva. Even he almost looked confused. He behaved completely normally afterwards.
Is this a thing? My inclination in this particular instance is not to worry, especially since I’ve been keeping an eye on them both in general anyway due to it being hairball season. Since I’ve never seen it look/happen like this before, I’m just wondering if anyone else has seen this or knows if it’s anything other than the mildest hairball ever. Thanks so much!
