Hi Reddit! I’m a concerned cat mom seeking some advice. My otherwise healthy 5 year old cat started straining in the litter box yesterday, going every 10 minutes for about an hour and only passing tiny stools. He vomited once after one of those episodes. The vet told me to monitor since he was otherwise acting normal & he was totally fine for about 26 hours, urinating, eating, playing, & cuddling like his usual self.

Now today it’s happening again. He strained, had a tiny stool, immediately vomited, then kept trying to go but couldn’t. Since then he’s only passed a couple really small liquid/mucusy poops and keeps going back to the box. He’s still eating, drinking, and peeing normally, and his belly feels normal, but he definitely seems uncomfortable.

Has anyone seen this before? Did it end up being constipation or something more serious? The emergency vet said I can bring him in if things worsen but he seems to be holding steady. Any advice would be much appreciated!
