is owning a cat the right thing for me?

I work full time but earn min wage as an apprentice (8 pound). I’m a chef and so I leave the house at 10am every day and get back at midnight and sleep to work the next day. I am looking at renting places close to work but it’s pricey. I need a pet or I’ll go insane and feel lonely.

I am also autistic and am scared I’ll neglect a pet and never want to at all. I love cats and can afford one. I’m willing to do anything it takes for a cat.

So as experienced and responsible cat (universe overlords) owners is it a good fit for me. I used to do animal care at college and health checks are a peice of cake. (i dropped out though. it was to do with the content.) I want to have a cat and spoil them and make their life amazing but am scared I’ll struggle.
