Hi all, new to the sub and after some thoughts and advice please, it would be hugely appreciated.

Our beautiful tortie is about 20 years old now, she’s had trouble grooming herself the past year or so, therefore her hair has gotten quite matted. We’ve been brushing her as and when we can, but it’s gotten to the point where her fur is like glue.

We went to groom her this evening and found a patch of fur where it’s so matted there’s blood behind it.

We are taking her to the vets first thing Monday morning for an emergency visit for expert advice, but is there anything we should do in the meantime?

She’s eating and going to the toilet as normal, she’s purring away and sat on my lap as normal (as I type this), and we haven’t noticed anything abnormal in her behaviour - other than she has been meowing even more than usual lately.
