My IVPN connections will not work when the option “Firewall” in the IVPN app is toggled which says “Ensure that all traffic is routed through the VPN”. To be more clear, it appears that the VPN connects yet DNS fails with the option “Firewall” on.

I have tried following the steps in the following article:

That article has a link to which is broken. The correct link for OS X (looking at an internet archive) appears to be . This advice, of hardcoding the DNS servers for OpenDNS, also doesn’t seem to help.

I have also tried the following:

sudo killall -HUP mDNSResponder

I have tried installing and uninstalling the app, updating my operating system, rebooting, etc. Also the following guide does not work for adding a VPN manually.

This problem appears to be somewhat new after an operating system update some time ago.

To add more information, I have my own Wireguard servers. These do work, and they appear in the VPN panel found in “Settings” in OS X, whereas IVPN does not (again the IVPN ikev2 guide did not work for me either).
