my childhood cat is old, he’s about 12 or 13 now and has been my best friend since 4th grade. He’s always been clingy with me, calling me for bed and cuddling against me to sleep. he’s always been in my orbit, my shadow no matter where I went. with age he’s taken to sleeping on my window or or my bed, either way still near me.

but most recently almost suddenly he’s almost exclusively in the garage sleeping. more sleep isn’t new, he’s old we expected that. but he’s always in the garage, only seems to come out for food or to check on my/sleep near me for a short before heading back to the garage.

with that my mom’s cat who used to not care about me at all, is suddenly insanely clingy. meowing to me, following me around cuddling me. she’s even moved from sleeping curled up with my mom, to curling up and sleeping with me. my mom even joked that she claimed me now, but what’s actually going on?

do I have to be prepared for my old man to go?

note: both cats are completely fine with each other and get along great so I know it’s not some weird rivalry and this all happened in the span of about 2 or 3 weeks.

am I getting passed on like a cat family heirloom???
