I tried a lot of cheating tools available. But, to be honest, there’s always a drag. Something or the other doesn’t work.

First — the pricing. $20 to $150 every single month. For a student in Germany already stretched thin, that’s not a small ask. And for what? A floating window and an API call?

Then I started digging deeper and found out that Cluely had a data breach. 83,000 users. Interview recordings. Screenshots of their screens. Personal information. All leaked because someone left the admin password sitting in a public GitHub repository. Not a sophisticated attack. Not a zero-day exploit. A password in a public repo.

Think about what that means. These tools sit on top of your screen during the most high-pressure moment of your career. They listen to every word. They see everything on your display. And one of the biggest names in this space couldn’t protect any of it.

That’s when I decided I’d rather just build it myself.

Here’s what I ended up building:

SolveWatch AI — a free, open source, real-time interview assistant for macOS (Apple Silicon).

What it does:
On-device Whisper listens to your interviewer — your audio never leaves your machine. Answers stream into a floating HUD that’s completely invisible in Zoom, Meet, and any screen share. Screenshot any coding problem and it OCRs it, sends it to AI, and streams the answer straight into the HUD. Conversation memory keeps follow-ups working naturally. Supports Groq, Gemini, OpenAI, and Claude — bring your own key. Groq’s free tier means most people run this at $0.

Why I’m posting this here

I’m not a company. I don’t have a growth team or a marketing budget. I built this for myself, it works well, and I want real people to use it and tell me honestly what’s broken, what’s confusing, and what they’d want added.

If you’re currently paying for one of these tools — try this first. If you’ve been curious about them but couldn’t justify the price — this is your chance. If you’re a developer and want to contribute or fork it — please do.

Happy Coding.
