I graduated with a degree in Environmental Studies and a minor in Environmental Science, plus a 3 month internship working for the county in conservation.

I worked retail at the same position for 7 years, it was my first job and kept me going through some of high school and all of college. I couldn’t even get an interview anywhere in my field for over a year after graduating. I left retail 8 months ago to be a Legal Assistant- thought i’d get some experience in ANYTHING- but its not working out.

I’m going back to my old retail position that hired me back at $29.25 3 days a week (or 4 if i want it)/$39.25 one day a week, with full benefits. It’s a good deal and better compensation than my current job ($24, no benefits) but I feel like a loser for going back to a job i had at 17. Most people have worked many more jobs or have gotten into their field at my age but i’m back stocking shelves.

Feelin’ bad. Need to commiserate. Anyone else in a similar boat?
