Hello, i (22f) got my cat milo about 7 months ago. Hes about 8-9 months old at most. We (my sister and I) took both him and his brother after a family member found them on the side of the road next to their dead mother. We’ve been taking care of them when suddenly milo was struggling to pee. He had been fixed maybe a week and a half prior. Took him to the vet and found out that he has a genetic disorder that makes crystals in his bladder. We treated it and changed his food. Now, he’s peeing blood. The vet says its likely he has stones and will need an ultrasound to confirm and see how many there are. That alone will cost $400. They said that the surgery would be much more expensive. We simply cannot afford that. My question is, what would be the best thing to do? I don’t know if giving him up to the humane society will do it because im worried they will just put him down. I want the best for him but i dont know what that is. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks you!
