There needs to be a major update to Siri, it can barley do anything

I did this the other day! I was like “what’s 8pm Eastern to Central” and I got the same response. I tried that like 6 years ago and it didn’t work and was stunned that to this day it still doesn’t lol

Everyone if Siri is worth using. It isn’t intuitive enough especially compared to AI now. Create a reminder, Siri creates it but doesn’t get it right, ask to edit reminder and Siri asks which one and reads out all your reminders.

It’s probably not as simple to fix as it sounds but little annoyances like this make Siri not worth using.

Also when driving I will randomly think of questions about any old shit so I’ve tried to ask Siri but it just says this is what I found on the web. I understand why it happens but every time I just hope Siri will have gotten smarter. Weird how Apple haven’t advanced Siri in years

I hope the new iOS revamps siri. That’d be so nice. If Siri could just have a bit more power to do things I’d be really happy

I honestly heavily doubt Apple are still working on Siri at all. They’ve just accepted it will be garbage, at least for now

Since I added 2 Google speakers at home, Siri only does timers on my watch. Rest of smart home commands go to Google.

*le me walking with my airpods pro*

    *a wild message arrives*

Me: Hey Siri, can you read the message? *walking my way downtown*

Siri: you have to unlock your iphone first.

    SO WHATS THE FREAKING POINT

iPhone 16 is getting a new assistant which should be much closer to the Google Assistant. It will be a iPhone 16 exclusive though, Apple won’t port it to older models even though we all know they could, expect some BS about the A17 being a “AI” enchanced chip” that enables the new assistant, all lies of course.

Dude, it really is the fucking worst. I asked siri this morning “how long will it take for me to drive to my next appointment.” She pulls up my calendar appointment. So I then ask “how long will it take for me to get there?” It then does a fucking web search “how long will it take for me to get there?” So. Fucking. Dumb. The more I use ChatGPT, the worse Siri seems.

EDIT: I should note that the address was in the calendar appointment.

Same sentiments here. Siri’s feeling like a grandma “AI” at this point. Half the responses I’m wishing it was gpt. Basic stuff, either “unlock the phone” or “I can’t do that on iPhone”.

Feels like she’s been abandoned by devs.

If Siri had gpt levels of iOS integration, it would be indispensable.

Worst part is some requests will work one day, then not work the next, then work again.

Especially with requests about HomeKit or commands that have similar wording to HomeKit scenes. Drives me nuts.

Siri has almost gotten me into car wrecks with how bad it is. I typically only use it while driving, and she can’t even read me a basic answer to a question, instead saying “Here’s some results from the web. Is this okay?”

Like no, I’m driving. Read the f’in results

It’s not even *consistent* in what it’s dumb about. Sometimes, something works that makes you go “Wait - that was actually quite good …” so then you try it again and she’s back to asking Wolfram Alpha how to send a text to my mom.

I actually did a test the other day between Siri and Google Assistant. Now preface this i utilize only Google Calendar. I have that connected so it imports into Apple Calendar.

I ask Siri when my next Ortho appt is. She tells me right away.

I ask Google Assistant when my Ortho appt is. It’s like “I don’t know what the fuck you are talking about”.

I do the same but as when my next appt at the specfic office as i plug that in each time on my appts into Google Calendar. Again only Siri got it right.

Moral of the story, Siri might be dumb at some things but smart in others. And Google Assistant isn’t the smartest thing either.

As someone who used to be on Android, the different between Siri and Google Assistant is night and day, and it was extremely noticable even before the advent of LLMs. It just seems like Apple does not care about Siri.

This was me the other day. I asked Siri to “text my wife how far I’m from home” she first needed me to unlock my phone and second she gave me results from the web.

I then asked her how far I’m from home and she said 5 minutes. Can two and two not be put together.

Apple lags way behind when it comes to AI stuff in general. Just look at the autocorrect and predictive typing on the keyboard. My native language is not English, and we tend to use both English and my native language when texting or talking in general. The autocorrect used to drive me nuts!

They’ll probably upgrade siri with more modern AI next year. They must do it if they don’t want to stay behind the competition.

Hoping that’s a massive feature of iOS 18. Would improve the phone’s built in assistant as well as the HomeKit setup. Have to wait for WWDC
