Just finished an initial interview with the company’s HR Recruiter. It was a Microsoft Teams meeting. The Recruiter told me if I were to move along in the process the company does not allow blurred or virtual backgrounds. I was using a blurred background at the time because I believed that’s the professional standard and there was no prior communication stating not to use blurred/virtual backgrounds. The HR Recruiter was herself using a virtual background during our call!
What are your thoughts on Zoom/Teams backgrounds during interviews?
