I’m a first time pet owner so I feel like I have SO many dumb questions so please bear with me. I have 2 kittens, age 6 months. I live in the Midwest and finally getting some beautiful spring weather. That means we can open the windows! Yay! The kittens are obsessed with feeling the fresh air, the sunshine and curious about what is happening outside of this house. They love laying in the window but I’m so scared of them either clawing the screen and ripping it and jumping out or if they will jump and push the screen out. I am extra panicked because 2 days ago I found my kitten outside my son’s window on the roof meowing. It was a total fluke thing that I was even in his room and saw her. I think she jumped up and the screen wasn’t latched in place and it popped open. I admit I’ve never been super careful about latching the screens as we never had pets and kids are older but will definitely be making sure they’re all properly secured now. The kittens are constantly climbing up the patio door screen and that hasn’t ripped so thinking maybe the screens are stronger than I’m thinking? Can I have my windows open and feel assured they won’t escape?
