Rant incoming
I went through the job search process less than a year ago, so the many memories of recruiters being The Worst are still quite fresh.
Now that I’m fully onboarded, I have to build up my department, which means making multiple hires at various levels. It’s a ton of work to review all the applications and I am already under water with my usual responsibilities, but I absolutely refuse to use a recruiter, for the reasons you all know, although the CEO gave me the budget for one.
Well, plot twist, now my HR rep is acting like a fucking recruiter. She has ghosted candidates (one reached out to me via LinkedIn with proof), fights me on screen requests for BS recruiter-y reasons (e.g. a qualified candidate who has been at their current job for slightly less than a year), reached out to people directly on LI that were obviously bad matches/way too senior, and her expectations for the junior positions are absurd considering the pay scale.
Going over her head would be awkward, but I might have to. I need to make these hires and she is out there scaring off qualified candidates.
I just want to scream into the void for an hour.
