I am moving countries (Spain -> Germany) and I’m taking my two cats who I adopted as strays in Spain with me. They have taken a year to warm up to me to the point where they sometimes like to come up to me or even jump on my lap to be petted. They are not ready to be held yet and leashes or any sort of control or restriction is scary.
We are flying tomorrow and I have been thinking about security at the airport for literal weeks now. Because getting them into a carrier is one thing - getting them into a carrier, out again for screening and then in again feels impossible.
My idea for a solution has been to put them in one carrier until they are at the airport, let security scan the second carrier and then move them over to the second carrier by just placing the carriers face to face and luring them over with some treats. But I think they also need to scan the cats themselves?
Help. Does anybody have experience taking cats through security that are not tame to the touch and easily scared by travels? How do private screening rooms work? Is there a way to screen the cats without holding them or moving them outside of carriers in general?
