Our rescue of 6 years, Hissy passed. He was cute, obese and an absolute velcro pet. Was diagnosed with FIV towards the end (was negative and then turned positive. vet said it could be dormant virus), had a bout of issues including ophthalmology and eventually kidney failure. We spent around USD$18K trying to save him and gave him the best medical treatment, including esophageal tube feeding and subcut.
He was the best boy and loved food. He stopped eating, couldnt walk, stopped peeing and drooled excessively… Rushed him to the ER and the vet said we have to let him go. Please tell me that I did the right thing to let him go humanely. This is my 4th pet euthanasia and it never gets easier.
He was known for his tongue- the Cute Belp Syndrome and was well loved by everyone because he was really fat and sticks to you with no personal space boundaries.
I’m broken to lose to my soul pet and I will never be the same again.
