My sweet girl Luna turned 13 this year. Since the day she arrived to me at just 8 weeks old she has slept right next to me on the other pillow or tucked into my neck.

Unfortunately her purr frequency makes my ears pop. But it’s not like a normal pop when your altitude changes (I can do that easily on demand by flexing my ear muscles) this is different and it actually hurts the longer she purrs. The problem is if I say anything or try to nudge her away slightly she turns up the motor and purrs more.

I have a 3 year old Maine coon with a quieter purr, his has only occasionally made my ears pop. But my latest adoptee, a 6 year old Maine coon, now his purr is quite loud and noticed it made my ears pop last night too.

I’ve searched the internet to see if others experienced this too for years and not once have I seen anyone talk about it.

TLDR: when my cats purr it’s creating a popping sensation in my ear to the rhythm of their purring and it’s hurts. Not seen anyone else talk about it.
