Advice to bathe my cat?

Hey guys, so I rather not bathe my cat because he doesn’t like it. Btw English isn’t my first language so it might not be totally fluent. However… he just had surgery a few days ago on his teeth. They pulled quite a few teeth and cleaned infected areas.

During surgery blood and fluid from the infected areas came on his fur. He also peed himself a couple of times because of getting off the drugs from surgery. All fine, but I suspect he doesn’t groom himself now because of the pain and fresh wounds in his mouth.

I gave him a couple of days, but the smell and blood are still on his fur. The vet adviced to wait with bathing, that is why I waited.

Now I would like to bathe him, because the dirty patch smells horrific. Of course not pleasant for him, but also for me since he loves loves loves to be held like a baby. Very cute I know.

He is very afraid of bathing and claws his way out out of fear. How can I do it in a way that doesn’t hurt him or me?
