Kaya had to rely on their substitutes and a strong second half performance to get past a stubborn Valenzuela PB-Mendiola side, edging to a 3-0 victory to return to winning ways.

Keyvan Mottaghian put in a superb performance to keep Kaya at bay, making a number of stunning saves throughout the game, and it was enough to earn his side a goalless first half. A crashing header from Pathy Malumandsoko finally broke the deadlock. Soon after, Mendiola lost their chance at an unlikely comeback when Amir Aningalan seemingly lost his head and got himself sent off for dissent after a series of fouls and a penalty that was ultimately missed by Jovin Bedic.

Goals from substitutes Martini Rey and Shuto Komaki seemed the points. Whilst Kaya got back to winning ways, questions remain over the reigning champions’ form, as this was not a comfortable match by any means.
