After months of searching, I finally landed my dream job—great salary, interesting work, and a strong bonus structure. I’m currently in the background check phase, and while everything should be fine, I have a few lingering concerns:
Old DUI: I had a DUI about 15–16 years ago. It was expunged, and my state’s Clean Slate law removes misdemeanors after 7 years. Logically, I believe this shouldn’t show up, but I still have some concern.
Employment date discrepancies: Some dates on my resume were slightly off—an honest mistake. There are no gaps in my employment history, and I didn’t fabricate any roles or companies. On the official background check form, I made sure everything matches exactly with what’s reported by The Work Number.
Job titles: My resume titles were somewhat elevated to better reflect my actual responsibilities. However, the titles listed on the background check form are accurate and align with official records.
Given all that, should I be concerned about any of these issues during the background check process? I’d appreciate any insight.
