Hey all,

So, I have been feeding a stray cat for about a year now and she showed up yesterday with what looked like an abscess on her left cheek/jaw. It was really swollen and today she must have scratched all the fur off because I can see it now. While it seems to have drained a bit, I still want to take her to the vet, however, she just had a kitten(s) a couple of weeks ago (I think they are in my neighbors barn, but neither I or the neighbor has seen them yet). My question is if it would be okay to take her to the vet while her kitten is so small? I would hope to only be gone for a little while but you never know really. Leaving the abscess doesn’t feel safe either, but I would worry too much leaving the kittens alone. I also worry that she would be wary of me afterwards and not come eat when she needs the calories while nursing. Any thoughts on the best course of action?
