My cat has had a small bump on her nose for years, and over the last year it started growing. Took her to the vet in January and she was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma. The vet estimated she’d have 1 more year to live at most. Over the next month the tumor started growing quickly, and bleeding occasionally, nearly covering both nostrils.
Well, it’s now April and the tumor has totally disappeared. Her nose looks almost perfectly normal.
I don’t know if it’s a thing that the tumor will go away for a while and then come back, but considering that this is the first time in years she’s had no bump on her nose, I think maybe not?
Incredibly, the only thing I can track this to is that she started getting some spirulina on her food (which I believe helps the immune system). I didn’t do this on purpose - I was giving it to another cat to improve his appetite, but all my cats seemed to like it, so I started sprinkling it on all of their food. When I noticed the tumor was improving, I thought maybe the spirulina could be what helped, so I kept up with that.
I’m a little nervous about feeling overconfident that she is “cured” and won’t feel sure until that year mark has passed.
In the meantime, I’m curious if anyone else has had a cat whose squamous cell carcinoma improved like this?
BTW, the cat with the appetite problem also had a health issue after getting vaccinated (lesions covering his body, lethargy, loss of appetite). He is now also back to his more vibrant, healthy self.
