There are a few red flags standing out to me about a new job offer I accepted, and I am looking for guidance from experts on this subreddit.
- Illegal Compensation Ask - During the initial recruiter call, they asked me to confirm we were aligned on the compensation band being offered.
Once I made it to the final round, the recruiter called to specifically ask me what I currently make. I was very put off by it, but provided the information anyway. Shortly after, a friend informed me that this is illegal in New York.
Two days later, she called me with a job offer that is only $2k more than what I currently make.
2. Job Offer missing Benefits/Comp package - She emailed me a contract to sign with very basic formal details about company policies, but nothing about health insurance, PTO, or 401K, etc. The next day, she sent this information after I signed the contract, but the link didn’t work.
3. Invasive Background Check - The website they use for background checks asked me to authorize them to access my ADP records, including all of my pay stubs dating back 10+ years, which I find very inappropriate.
Thoughts???
