I’m making a vet appointment in the morning but right now, I cannot stop crying. I need help. For the past day and a half, my (21 f, I live with my parents) cats have been progressively eating less, sleeping more and vomiting. They are 9 months old and 12 years old. The vomit is foamy and spit like. No dietary changes or possibility of them eating any plants, and I’ve ruled out foreign bodies because both of their illnesses have identical symptoms that are progressing seemingly at the same pace as one and other. My kitten is hiding more and playing a lot less, sleeping more. My older cat has become less active and has been sleeping more as well. They are both still drinking water, but as for eating, neither of them can get anything down without throwing up. It started with just my kitten vomiting a day and a half ago, but they both were still eating, then I woke up yesterday night to my older cat throwing up too. Around last night is when they started just refusing food. This morning I tried again, my older cat stomaches it for around 10 minutes, but my kitten licks the food or takes one tiny bite and he’s throwing up again. I can tell they are hungry, I feel bad for them and just so helpless. I’ve done everything I can think to do, and it hasn’t helped whatsoever. I used pumpkin, canned tuna, boiled chicken breast, I used Forti Flora, I drank multiple cups of water with the ice I use for their water bowl in it to see if it would make me feel sick or weak because I was worried about a possible mold issue, tried every different brand of food that their bodies are already familiar with to see if it was a formulation change or sudden allergy, cleaned their entire cat room and mine (everything upstairs). When I say I’ve done everything that I can possibly think to do in these past almost two days, I have done everything. Of course this issue had to start during the weekend, or I would’ve ran them to the vet as soon as I saw the symptoms starting. Every time I have looked it up, no matter how I word it, it suggests a possible parasite, viral infection, or bacteria infection. I want to know what in the world this could possibly mean. What viruses? What infections? What parasites??? Both of my cats are fully vaccinated against all of the standard diseases and whatever the shelter/vet recommends. I worried about feline distemperment at first, but then I looked at my kittens adoption file and he has all 3 vaccines with the scientific name of that disease in them. I am so beyond lost. I don’t want to put them through a bunch of medically unnecessary or financially damaging tests. Has anyone ever dealt with a similar issue? What was it? Are your cats okay now? What was the treatment? Please, any advice is helpful.
