Hi i’ve never had a cat before but I recently adopted a 2 month old and he’s adorable but I already have a dog at home, Max is an 8 year old rat terrier and at first I thought he would growl or react negatively to the new kitty ‘Lucifer’ but he had the complete opposite, he was super curious and just seemed happy and not aggressive or territorial as I thought he would be. When we first brought Lucifer home Max started sniffing at Lucifer but when he got close Lucifer started to hiss which made Max bark a little.

Right now the approach I’m leaning towards is taking some of Maxs toys and bringing them to Lucifer so he can get used to his scent. I also think Lucifer reacted badly because he was sad by leaving his parents and siblings (we adopted him from a neighbor who has both parents which had 6 kitten total) and the first thing Lucifer saw in a different environment was a large strange animal that was sniffing him so I’m guessing that scared him.

Any advice of how to get a kitten at this age comfortable with all the new stuff and general tips would be appreciated!
