I recently went through an interview process with Wonderist, and honestly the experience was frustrating enough that it’s worth calling out.
The process started normally — multiple interview rounds, conversations with different team members, nothing unusual. At some point, I was asked to complete an SEO audit as part of the evaluation. It wasn’t trivial either — it took me around 3 hours to do properly.
That’s fine. I’m not against assignments when they’re part of a serious, well-run process.
But the way Wonderist handled communication toward the end completely undermined that.
After completing the assignment and going through the later stages, I was given a specific timeline for when I would hear back. That timeline passed with zero communication. No update, no acknowledgment, nothing.
So I followed up.
Then it happened again.
Another timeline was given, and again, Wonderist missed it without any proactive communication. At that point, I had to follow up a second time just to get any kind of response.
Only after chasing them multiple times did I finally get a generic rejection.
That’s the part that stands out. It’s not about the rejection — that’s expected. It’s the lack of basic follow-through after asking a candidate to invest real time. If you’re going to ask for a multi-hour assignment and multiple interviews, the bare minimum is to communicate when timelines change.
Missing a deadline once is one thing. Missing it twice, without saying anything, and only responding after being chased makes the whole process feel disorganized and poorly managed.
For a company like Wonderist, this shouldn’t be a high bar to clear. A simple update would have taken less than a minute and would have completely changed the experience.
Instead, it felt like I was left in limbo until I forced a response.
Curious if others have had similar experiences with Wonderist or if this is just how some companies are operating now.
