Hello! I am hoping to hear positive experiences after reading so many negative ones.

Our resident cat, Rango (4M), is a very sweet docile boy. Early into getting him as a kitten, we socialized him with other cats and he never hissed/bit/etc. We wanted to get him a friend but had to treat him for FIP, which he’s now been 3 years recovered from!

Since then, we’ve wanted to get him a friend as my fiancé and I both work out of the house all day. He gets really lonely despite an enriched environment, waiting for us at the door, meowing when we’re gone, etc. We ended up adopting a freshly 1 year old male cat, Squid, yesterday. We went to the shelter out of curiosity and found he has a really similar disposition to Rango — we thought they’d be a great match!

I’m currently hanging with Squid who has really adjusted well to his new home, in the confines of his safe room.

Rango is a little cautious, but also curious. He hung out at Squid’s door earlier, happy chirping.

Even with positive signs, I know we have a long road ahead. I feel like I’ve been seeing a lot of negative posts about introducing a new cat to the resident cat and hoping to hear from anyone who has had a good experience!
