I need to vent because this process completely killed what used to be my dream company.

I went into this so excited. I made it clear how much I wanted to be there. Thought this was the opportunity.

Instead, I got:

2 months of interviews…3 initial rounds where every interviewer felt completely flat, uninterested, and gave me nothing about why the company is even worth being excited about. No selling of the role, no personality, no energy… just monotone Q&A.

Then it got worse:

They asked for references so I’m thinking, okay, this is serious. Told me they wanted me to fly out to HQ. Then suddenly they call me and say never mind and they need me to do 2 more interview rounds instead.

At that point I was already over it. The constant back and forth and lack of enthusiasm made it feel like they either couldn’t make a decision or just didn’t value my time.

Final step was to write a sales pitch. And honestly? I put zero effort into it because by that point I was convinced they weren’t that into me and even if they were, I didn’t want it anymore.

So I matched their energy. Gave them the same level of effort they gave me: minimal. Mentally, I had already decided I’d decline an offer if it came.

Wild how a candidate tells the interviewers this is my “dream company” and they completely fumble the experience this badly. And I’m thinking if this is how they treat candidates, I can’t imagine what working there is like.

Anyone else had a company completely talk itself out of you being interested
