This is my cat Valentina. She’s about 7–8 months old. Recently she got fleas from my friends’ dog, so today I bought flea and worm medicine for her at the vet. I asked twice how to give it because it was in a pipette form, and both times the woman who sold it to me said to give it orally. So I did. And then my cat started running all over the apartment and began drooling—foam was coming out of her mouth. So the first thing I did was call the vet back. And the vet told me I was supposed to apply the medicine to the back of her neck. So we went back, and I left her there for a few hours for observation. Apart from the drooling, nothing was wrong with her, but this is my first cat and we’ve already had two situations where she almost died, so I’d rather be safe than sorry.

At the clinic she didn’t want to go into the carrier and she scratched me and the vet assistant quite badly. She hissed at me when I tried to calm her down. It worries me because this is the first situation like this, but I can understand that she was overwhelmed by a new place and new people. Like I said, this is my first cat and I tend to panic over the smallest things, which is why I’m writing this post. Have you had similar situations? I just need someone to reassure me and tell me I’m not crazy.
