Evangelos Marinakis has placed his shares into a blind trust for the second successive year as Nottingham Forest move to avoid any conflict over multi-club ownership.

Forest are confident of complying with strict Uefa regulations after Marinakis, the club’s owner, suspended his interest in the club before this year’s March 1 deadline. Telegraph Sport understands that Marinakis, who bought Forest in May 2017, is fully committed to the club and this is only a temporary measure.

Marinakis also owns Greek Super League club Olympiacos and there is the risk of sanctions if Forest win the Europa League and both clubs qualify for the Champions League next season. Uefa rules dictate that clubs governed by the same ownership cannot compete in the same competition.
