New kitten arriving next week, he will be 8 weeks old, it’s been a few years since I had cats and I just want to check a few things. The last ones I had both lived to 18/19 and I did nothing, I knew nothing. They had no vaccinations, no flea treatment, indoor only which helped I imagine. I’m realising I got lucky! Or I’ve fallen down a rabbit hole of information that I can never unknow!
In no particular order -
-
Should I buy kitten milk? Is it necessary or beneficial in anyway for a very newly weaned little baby.
-
First few night in our home - would allow him to sleep with you? I fear it’ll be scary and lonely downstairs on his own, but ultimately I don’t want that to be long term and he’d eventually be fine
-
Vaccinations are booked for 4 days after he arrives with us, should I wait longer for him to settle? Is it as traumatic as taking babies for vaccinations because boy did I need emotional recovery time!
-
Outdoor/indoor cats? I’m torn. We live in a lovely neighbourhood that has a friendly cat population. And initially thought he would be after being inside for a good wee while but there’s very strong arguments from indoor cat people that say it’s cruel. Any thoughts? Happy to do either, whatever’s best for him.

Collar? Zero benefits right? I can’t seem to find any but since i’m asking questions!
Pretty sure i’m sorted otherwise!
