Evangelos Marinakis has placed his shares into a blind trust for the second successive year as Nottingham Forest move to avoid any conflict over multi-club ownership.

Forest are confident of complying with strict Uefa regulations after Marinakis, the club’s owner, suspended his interest in the club before this year’s March 1 deadline. Telegraph Sportunderstands that Marinakis, who bought Forest in May 2017, is committed to the club and this is a temporary measure. A blind trust is an arrangement where a trustor gives a third party (the trustee) control over their assets to avoid a conflict of interests.

Marinakis also owns Greek Super League club Olympiacos and Forest risk sanctions if they win the Europa League and both clubs qualify for the Champions League next season. Uefa rules dictate that clubs governed by the same ownership cannot compete in the same competition.
