This experience has literally left me so confused and very annoyed tbf.

I recently applied for a role that honestly felt like a perfect fit for my background. I got an interview, but it felt… off. The interviewer seemed rushed, like they didn’t want to be there, and when I asked genuine questions to understand the role better, they were pulling faces and giving very short answers. It just didn’t feel like a proper conversation. I figured maybe they’d already found the match for the role and were just continuing with interviewing me out of curtesy.

At the end, I was told I’d hear back that same afternoon. I didn’t. Nothing the next day either. Two days later, I sent a polite follow-up message and got completely ghosted. Just no response or message to say they had moved on with someone else.

Then I saw another job posting from the same company. Different title, different description, but still very aligned with my experience and what I’m looking for. I figured maybe it was a separate role, so I applied.

I got invited to interview the same day, booked the earliest slot, showed up… and the same interviewer immediately said:

“Oh, have I met you before?”

I said yes, I interviewed last week for x job.

She then says: “Oh… well this is the same job.”

(Which it absolutely was not presented as.)

And then:

“I’m just going to end the interview here.”

That was it. Interview over in seconds. I wasn’t even given any response from my last interview or a polite, thank you again for your interest just don’t align with what we are looking for currently. Not a single ounce of professionalism.

I’ve never experienced anything like this before. It felt incredibly unprofessional and honestly a bit disrespectful of my time.

Not to sound arrogant, but I’m usually very strong in interviews and my experience genuinely lines up really well with these roles, so I don’t feel like I bombed the first one or did anything to warrant that kind of response.

Has anyone else had something like this happen?
