We have three cats : One black female, 5 years old One grey male, two years old One tabby male, two years old (Two last cats are bonded)
Our grey baby has had health issues since we started fostering him. He has a chronic respiratory problem, we did multiple tests to see if he had polyps, resistance to antibiotics, etc. To this day he stills breathes like Darth Vader but he’s a very happy cat who runs, plays and jumps around.
A few months ago we noticed he was scratching his ears and shaking his head a lot. The vet confirmed he had a bacterial infection in both ears that we treated with meds and regular ear cleaning. The first round of meds didn’t work, we started a more aggressive round that still didn’t work. The vet suggested we put him on hypoallergenic food and wait for 6 weeks to see if there was improvement.
Not only there was no improvement, but it seems like our other cats started scratching their ears and shaking their head too, though no as much as our grey cat. The vet told me the bacterial infection was not contagious and we checked all of them for ear mites, and there are no signs of it. We’ll probably all bring them to the vet to get some answers but I’m curious to know if it happened to anyone else on this sub ?
