I applied for a job through Linkedin easy apply, and I was contacted by a recruiter from the company the next day. He messaged me on LinkedIn to schedule an interview and sent me a request to connect, which I accepted.

We set up a time for a video call at 12pm today. He said he would send the link via Linkedin message the day of.

15 minutes before the interview, and still no link. I messaged him on LinkedIn confirming we were still on for 12pm today. Then, soon after his profile turns to “Linkedin Member” with a blank profile pic. At the bottom of our chat it says “LinkedIn Member unable to receive messages,” and at the top,”You haven’t connected with LinkedIn Member.” I can also no longer access the job posting.

I thought “what the fuck?” and called the office. Front desk transferred me to the recruiter. He told me (unconvingly) that he was “having trouble with LinkedIn and indeed this morning” and proceeded to try and “reschedule” the interview for tomorrow. I said I’m not available tomorrow, and we’re both here on the phone, so why don’t we just do this interview now? So it proceeded, but the whole thing was very odd.

Did not get the impression on our phone call that I was going to be contacted about this job going forward. But why didn’t he just cancel the interview and tell me? Wtf??
