So let me throw some context here. Im autistic. High functioning, but autistic. I have bad OCD and massive anexity. It has honestly been a detriment to my interview skills because i dont tell anyone this out of fear of outright disqualification. When i do coding problems, especially in front of people i dont know, i have a tendency to freeze up and forget things. I also have a sever hatred for live code exams but thats besides the point.

I have an initial interview tomorrow for a software engineer position. Nothing technical yet, just the usual “lets vet you to make sure you are who you are” kinda interview. Im thinking this time i just let the guy know my situation so, if there is a code exam, they can temper their expectations a little. I can code, unfortunatly i do my best work when i get OCD locked on a topic/project and work until i cant any more. I also take medication to manage the ocd and anexity, but it makes me kinda “brain fogged”. Still, it beats brushing my teeth 40 times a day.

Does anyone here have any opinions on me telling the hr person im like this? I think it might be worth a shot.
