I tried the many online fads and trends over the years. I personally tried wood pellets before and a few different types of clay litter (special kitty, cats pride, cheaper alternative. Clumping and non clumping varieties) and honestly, all of them wreaked with one pee. They were hard to scoop. I prefer tidy cats.

But i don’t like the smaller size tidy cats because they are too powdery, and I don’t like those “new” refill bags for the tubs because they have huge granules and don’t clump as well in my opinion. I also tried the non clumping variety and the pee would basically go straight to the bottom and not really absorb, plus impossible to scoop because it doesn’t clump and it falls through a scoop.

I have always been curious if actual sand litter/bedding is worth it since I heard of it a few years ago. The bags are much cheaper than litter, so even if you can’t scoop… litters all gets thrown away eventually. But i wasn’t sure if it would do anything for odor so i never gone out my way to try it.

Btw, I have 6 big cats and tons of boxes with plenty of space for their big bootys, so i’m always looking for alternatives for cheap, large quantity litter that works and is safe.
