Currently, my partner and I have 2 cats, one girl we’ve had since a kitten, and the second is a boy we got about a year later, and he’s about the same age as our first, he will be 2 this summer.
The boy, Bibo, is an amazing cat but he is definitely a bit of a biter. Usually it’s just when you do things he doesn’t like, so that’s easy to avoid (like petting his belly or picking him up in certain ways) but in the mornings, he likes to come up to me and ask for pets. Pretty standard cat behavior, head butting and rubbing on me. But if I’m trying to keep sleeping and I don’t pet him, he tries to bite me on the face or arm.
I can usually avoid the bites, but the fact he sometimes goes for my face is a little annoying, and he is a bit of a hard biter. Like when he bites he really clamps down and it hurts, has never broken skin though, but hurts more than other cats I’ve had. It never seems aggressive, more just like “Hey I want you to pet me!!”. I’ve never had a cat do this before, only ever had cats bite when they *dont* want something. Idk how to correct this honestly, usually I just push his face away and give him a gentle *bap* on the head, but I know that’s not doing anything to teach him to stop. Is this anything I can correct? Or will this just be a quirk of his that I have to be careful of? He’s a lovely little boy and this is a tiny flaw but I’d really like to work with him to fix it if anyone has advice. sorry for the long ramble lmao, I’m a yapper.
