I haven’t had a pet in eight years and I haven’t had a cat in over two decades. But I have finally found myself ready to have another little furry one in my life. I am adopting an adorable eight-week-old black female kitten from my co-worker. I am so excited to bring her home but I am stressing a bit (because duh I’m a 39(F) with autism and I want the best for my child.) and I would greatly appreciate any advice for a new adoptive mother. Here are some questions I have.
-
Besides the basics what else should I be getting?
-
How can I make her transition less traumatic?
-
Is there anything I should be doing to help create a bond?
-
Should I take time off work?
-
How can I make my studio apartment safe and welcoming?
-
What shouldn’t I spend my money on?
-
What type of food do you suggest? - I do know she can have dry all the time and then give her wet also. But what else?
-
Can I supplement her diet with fresh protein, fruit, and vegetables?
-
Can I train her to go outside with me?
-
What behaviors should I be aware of and how to prevent them?
-
General tips and tricks?
-
Oddly specific tips and tricks?
Anything. Thank you so much in advance and I will definitely post photos when she comes home.
