In person interview, I’ve been onsite for three hours being grilled, giving a presentation, and my last conversation is with the supervisor for the role.
Sup: What’s your salary expectations
Me: Well, I know the core of the role at this point, but the scope of the immediate undertaking of a major project is still blurry. Can you share your range?
SUPERVISOR LAUGHED IN MY FACE! Then said, sure we have a budget to keep in mind but give me a number.
I did then she says oh by the way, you’ll be supervising someone, AND we want their opinion so we will expect another onsite interview with them.
I was fuming the whole 6 hour drive home (relocating this week)
-
Laughing when a candidate asks you a fucking question about your idea of the pay scale???
-
Dropping supervision responsibilities after getting a number on the table WITHOUT that being considered???
-
You had me here for HOURS, and this person just happens to enter the chat at the 11th hour and I have to come BACK?!
I was terminated from a really toxic workplace in Fall for calling out my supervisor for violations and not doing her job and putting it off on me… I don’t know if I’m being too cautious here and reading too far into this or if these are red flags… thoughts?
and yes, I was called for the ”final round” and the hiring manager was more accommodating and made it a video call…
