A video I just watched (not going to link it because I don’t want to give them more engagement) has a guy doing that trend of doing an interview over zoom/meets/etc. where the interviewer is about to ask them a question and they smear something (like vaseline or in this case, mustard) over the webcam of their laptop right as she’s asking him to raise his hands in the air, which I assume is to prove he isn’t looking up answers. Of course, it’s likely an ad for one of those AIs that listen to your audio and give you answers on the fly without having to do anything actively on your computer.
What the fuck is the point in smearing the webcam in these videos? Is it just to get people to ask why they’re doing it for engagement? The interviewer would be able to see them clearly and then suddenly their webcam is “fucked” with a big ass smear over the lens.
