So I recently had a phone screen scheduled for mid-range role at a retail company that I have a personal connection with. The recruiter I was working with set up a time for them to call me, but didn’t supply their phone number, which I didn’t think too much of at the time. At the time of the phone screen, the recruiter was a few minutes late calling, but when they call, my phone doesn’t recognize the number and identifies it as spam and quiets it (I’m not sure if this is a feature I can disable or if it’s one of the quirks my phone has decided to pick up). I don’t realize the recruiter called until I get the voicemail. I immediately call back and get their voicemail, so I leave a message saying I’m still available and I’m saving their number as a contact so my phone doesn’t filter it as spam. During that time, the recruiter sends a follow-up email saying to reach out to them to set up a new time, and I also respond to the email. About an hour later I decide to try calling them again, and again I go to voicemail. So I just leave it and see if the recruiter will respond to the email by end of day. It’s been a few days and still nothing so I’m giving up on it. I’m just frustrated that I immediately called them back after realizing the issue and apparently in the thirty seconds from them hanging up the phone and me calling they slipped into the Shadowrealm never to be seen again.
