Hello fellow cat lovers!

I was hoping you could share your experiences for any cats with allergies as we need some advice!

We have a rescue cat, who is around 7/8 years old. We have had her for nearly 2 years. She has had issues with her ears for nearly a year now. To summarise the symptoms, she gets in sudden itching fits where she scratches aggressive in her ears and then scurries off under the table or hides somewhere for a while. It’s ver out of character as she is a very docile and affectionate cat.

We have been to the vets many times - she’s currently on steroid pills to reduce the inflammation. She has also had her ears throughly cleaned out (vet made it very clear that cleaning them ourselves is a no-go as cat ears are very sensitive).

There is build up in her ears - both wax, and blocked pores/small cysts.

The vet said it’s likely allergies, and has said if the steroids have no suppresses her irritation then we will go for a swab test to determine if that is correct.

I was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar? Or if anyone knows of common allergies that we might have in our house.
