Last night my cat was trying to lick down there and we thought his skin was just irritated so we rubbed vegetable glycerin on his tummy. But later after that I found string hanging out of his butthole. I pulled a little to see if it was just a little piece that was almost out, and it wasn’t. So I cut off most of what was hanging out of his butthole.

It is now morning and I still see the bit I left hanging out there. So it’s been about 14 hours. He’s eating and drinking and acting normally. AI told me to check under his tongue to see if the string is wrapped around the base of his tongue. I tried to look and I don’t think there is, but I’m not completely sure.

He’s eaten string before. Twice we had to pull it out of his mouth when we caught him in the act. Once there was a small piece of twine string hanging out of his butt that I took out (it was only like an inch or two long). I have no clue how he got this string, since we’ve hidden all of it. This string is kind of stretchy like a hairtie but it’s an odd pale color (maybe he digested the coloring?).

I’m afraid I need to take him to the vet. The vet is probably financially accessible as long as he doesn’t need actual surgery. I’m really scared for him.
