Just wanted to send something out to the cat community that goes beyond leaving a review that will get lost in others.
My cats are both 6, male and female, not siblings. I am very lucky that neither of them are picky with food. I can give them any type of kibble or wet food and they eat it no problem.
Last month I decided to upgrade their kibble and went with the Purina Pro Plan Complete Essentials. About a two weeks after I made the swap I noticed my boy cat having slight blood in his stool. I took them both to the vet for their annual and they came back clean. After that, he was throwing up the kibble almost once a day. I assumed he was not getting enough liquids so I was feeding him extra wet food and digestive treats. Still throwing up.
My girl cat will eat ANYTHING. She is not picky and she will push him out of the way for food, but with this kibble she was leaving it untouched. Finally she threw up right in front of my bed and I realized it was the kibble.
I made the swap back to one they had previously and they are running to the food bowl for it, leaving none behind, and not throwing up.
I know that claims were made about this brand a few years ago (researching after they both threw up) and wanted to put it out there for anyone who is considering getting this for their cats. Don’t do it!
