So I had an interview with a large, widely known tech company. I had my initial screening interview with the recruiter and then the first interview with the hiring manager a week later. In the hiring manager interview, he said straight up that he doesn’t have a timeline for next steps and it may take 2-3 weeks without hearing back and that’s normal and to not panic that they haven’t forgotten about me. The same day the recruiter emailed me and said “I met with the hiring manager today and received positive feedback on your interview. He needs a few days to identify the panel for round 2 and soon as I have that information, I will be in touch with you.” This was 2.5 weeks ago now. I followed up with the recruiter last week and received no response. My issue is that there’s conflicting information with the HM saying 2-3 weeks and recruiter saying a few days. Did I just not get the job? Is this normal time lengths to not get a response to a check in email? Can they really tell me they’re scheduling me for round 2 and then just don’t? Is that common? or should I feel secure in that they said they’ll schedule me so i just have to wait?
