After a year of digestive issues the vet put him on thyroid medication and steroids. The steroids helped his diarrhea but threw him into diabetes. Different vet (the one who diagnosed diabetes) took him off steroids and put him on another medication for stomach issues plus insulin for the diabetes. Determining the correct amount of insulin involved every 6 weeks taking him for an all day visit to the vet where they checked him frequently for how well the insulin was working. After several months he was cured of the diabetes. And was able to stop the digestion medication. Now he gets thyroid medication 2x a day.
Buddy is almost 16. About two years ago he had given up his usual routines. A couple weeks ago he jumped up into my lap! Yesterday as I was pulling into the garage there was Buddy sitting in the window watching for me, which he hadn’t done for a couple years!
His fur is back. He is bright-eyed. He looks as though he has gotten younger. My husband calls him the Million Dollar Cat since treatment did set us back quite a bit. But the joy of seeing him feeling well again is worth it.
