Hi all,
Recently moved into a 2 BR apt, and the smaller bedroom has become the “cat room.”
Already, there is an *extremely* strong ammonia smell emitting from the room. The room is carpeted; I bought stainless steel litter boxes since I heard they were the best and easiest to clean. I put them in the bathtub as I figured that would be easiest (scrub/wash the tub, boxes etc) and I have no room in the actual bathroom to put them.
But as soon as I walk in, it hits, and hard. Like, I start coughing almost immediately. I’m going to buy new boxes; bought Tidy Cats 24/7 odor control litter, Arm and Hammer powder to sprinkle into the boxes, Resolve, Lysol, multi-purpose disinfecting spray, an automatic “mister” (Glade) that sprays every so often … but I don’t know what else to do.
The carpet is already a little stained from my elderly dog, so I’m not going to get that professionally cleaned until his time has come, but I know that doesn’t help.
Any ideas on what else I can try? Is stainless steel the best? I’m at a loss and embarrassed I’m already having to deal with this, especially if people come over. Please help?
