I’m hoping to hear some success stories of cats that became more affectionate with time. We adopted two cats (brother and sister) 9 weeks ago from a local animal rescue program. They are around 1.5 years old now. We don’t know anything about their background just that their previous owner was an older lady who suddenly died in her apartment. They are both very well behaved cats, they never scratch or bite, they don’t destroy anything and use their litter box without any problems. The male is scared easily but he sometimes allows us to pet him and then he sometimes purrs. The female is the brave one, she is not scared of anything and will always allow us to pet her, sometimes she is clearly enjoying it and wants us to rub her belly but she almost never purrs. She purred a total of 2 times so far. What’s worrying us is that both cats never seek physical contact with us or with each other. They also don’t sleep on the bed with us. Anyone experienced something similar and their cats became more affectionate with time or even became cuddly?
