All of it. ALL. OF. IT. Did they think I would get three letters after my name and a degree for a minor contribution?

They wanted someone with experience for a senior bioinformatician, but after being asked the above and “are there any projects you worked on that you led?” (I have 5 first author publications where I led end-to-end analysis! 5 of them! The most recent was in an IF 30 journal! The publications are the receipts in this field FFS!) and being quizzed on random bash commands (is memorizing cut -d really the marker of an experienced scientist or just someone who can use google?) I think these people would not know experience if it slapped them in the face.

I get asking someone who has a sparse resume and little experience but asking someone who has a PhD and 5 years experience (not counting 4 years dissertation work)? There are better ways to assess technical aptitude than “what was your cutoff for X thing you did five yeas ago.”

Obviously I didn’t go off on them, but my god this is exhausting. I want to scream.
